About Us
Young women have a unique contribution to make to society. Camp Golden Hills recognizes this, and aims to provide them with the encouragement and guidance they need to discover their talents and become leaders.
High Goals, Lasting friendships, Dedicated Guidance.
Young women need them. Camp Golden Hills (CGH) aims at providing girls with all three.
Designed by parents, educators, and other professionals, CGH motivates young women to use their talents in order to lead and serve others at home, school, and in the community.Aware of the spiritual dimension of cultivating virtues, leadership skills, and strong interpersonal relationships, CGH entrusts the doctrinal and spiritual aspects of its activities to Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. Opus Dei encourages people to practice Christian virtues in their families, their work, and their friendships. Find out more about Opus Dei.
Since then, numerous parents have dedicated their time, effort, and creativity to developing both the summer camp and the club activities. Clubs have now spread throughout the West Coast. Although run independently, these clubs share a common vision. Various programs held during the year bring the clubs and their organizers together. The clubs also exchange news and other important information through a newsletter, Grapevine. In addition, experiences have been compiled into a Club Manual, first published in 1997.
CGH also gives high school and college women the opportunity for leadership and service. During the year, high school counselors, many of them former club members, assist club leaders with activities and also serve as role models for the younger girls. These counselors meet once a month with college mentors to prepare materials for the clubs. In seminar-style workshops, the college students share practical advice on excelling in school and meeting the social challenges of young adult life.
